Brief overview 
Many iOS users have reported being unable to open locking devices when the app was not actively running in the foreground. With this release, we have specifically addressed the root causes of this issue. In both long-term field tests and live operation, the changes have demonstrated reliable unlocking – and all AX2Go issues currently known to us have now been resolved.

What’s new

1. Widget function (quick access)

 ·    Objective: launch the app in the foreground as quickly as possible so that BLE connections are not disrupted by iOS background processes.
·     Effect: faster connection.
·     Please note: The widget launches the app. Actual BLE communication takes place once the app is active.

2. Improved user guidance 

·     The guidance within the app (animation) now illustrates more clearly how to hold the smartphone facing the reader unit.
·     Test results: Reliable unlocking when the smartphone is held with the display facing the reader unit (not with the back facing the reader), as this optimises signal strength and prevents the NFC antenna from establishing communication.

3. Automatic deletion of blocked keys

·      Blocked AX2Go keys are removed in the background to avoid inconsistencies in key management. No manual action is required.

Brief guide: Using the widget and new instructions

 General unlocking procedure

1. Tap the widget → AX2Go opens faster (app in foreground).
2. Hold the smartphone with the display facing the reader unit.
3. Bring the device close to the reading point until briefly touching, then move it away again → the app sends the unlocking signal via BLE.
4. Wait for confirmation in the app, including audiovisual feedback from the locking device.

iPhone (iOS): Add widget (may vary slightly depending on iOS version)

·      Customise lock screen / home screen → Add widget → Select AX2Go widget.
·      Usage: Tap widget on lock screen / home screen /→ App opens → proceed as described above.

 Why this update is so effective: iOS regulates background Bluetooth activity for security and battery optimisation reasons. In certain situations, this can prevent BLE communication. With the widget and improved user guidance, we have eliminated the common cause of many failures, ensuring that AX2Go functions reliably under iOS once again.

As part of our ongoing digitalisation efforts and in the interest of sustainability, we will increasingly provide product documentation in digital form via QR codes, while printed documentation will continue to be available on a reduced scale. During a transition period beginning in May 2026, our customers will receive both printed documentation and a QR code linking to the digital documents.

The pilot phase will begin with the Digital Cylinder AX. Upon successful completion of the initial phase, technical information will primarily be available via the QR code supplied with the product; printed documentation will then only be provided in exceptional cases or upon request.

This ensures that our customers always receive information in an optimally readable format and font size. Physical document management and the filing of printed documentation will be significantly reduced in the future, although printed documents will still be available in certain cases.

The MP version of the Digital Locking Cylinder 3061 was introduced back in 2013 as an extension of our digital cylinder portfolio. In 2027, it will be replaced by our new Digital Cylinder AX, enabling us to meet new technological requirements and offer our mechatronic thumb-turn cylinder based on the AX platform across a broader range of applications.

The Digital Locking Cylinder 3061 (MP version) will be available until December 2026, or while supplies last. However, please note that, due to the discontinuation, individual product versions may no longer be available before this date. The expected last order date is 31 Dec. 2026.

Please contact your Field Sales representative or our Internal Sales team before ordering a specific variant. As a general recommendation, we suggest that you start offering your customers our new Digital Cylinder AX with immediate effect.

Please also note that, following the discontinuation of the Digital Locking Cylinder 3061 (MP version), certain functions will no longer be supported. These functions primarily concern the reading of less common ID card formats within the SmartIntego (WO) environment. MIFARE credentials will continue to be supported via a wide range of templates.

The latest Locking System Management (LSM) software, Version 3.6, will be available for all editions starting 15 April 2026. On this date, the update notification will appear in the software.
 
In addition to error corrections to ensure more stable operation of SimonsVoss locking systems, the following new features have been implemented:

Registration notice
As this is a major release, valid registration information for Version 3.6 is required to perform the update.
 

On 26 November 2025, all customers with a current Service Fee agreement were informed that the terms and conditions of the contract would change for the next contract period. The end customer pays the associated annual fee directly to SimonsVoss for software updates and, in some cases, for the use of software services such as cloud services (e.g. AX2Go).

The changes at a glance:

+ The Service Fee will be renamed as Software Fee.
+ Priority support will be removed from the agreement. However, this will hardly change anything for customers in their day-to-day business. They will continue to receive help if they contact our support team with a problem.

The AXM Plus business model heralds a new era in software provision at SimonsVoss and is already paving the way to the cloud. By choosing AXM Plus with a Software Fee, forward-thinking customers will always be at the forefront when it comes to new developments – that is our feature-first promise. AXM Plus now also supports direct network programming of locks with LockNode (LNI) and virtual networking via our Digital SmartRelais 3 Advanced as a gateway.

This extension enables even more flexible and efficient control of your locking systems.

• + WaveNet integration and CommNode: Locks can be reprogrammed and read remotely via routers and LockNodes. Critical doors in a previously unnetworked system can be easily networked with additional components (LNI) and routers.

Free licence upgrade
Existing licences have been upgraded to the new main version free of charge. This means that existing installations will continue to receive all updates within this version at no additional cost.
 
 
Important information about installation
Manual installation via download is required due to the size of this update. The integrated update function will only display an availability notification, but will not perform the update automatically. The setups for the new versions are available here.
 
 
After installation
You can continue working with your software as usual. Please ensure you have the necessary administrator rights for installation.

From 13/08/2025; all new AX2Go users will need to download the AX2Go app from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store before their digital key with access authorisations can be loaded.
 
Previously, if the app was not installed, the user was directed to the respective app store via the link in the invitation email or SMS in order to install the app. After installation, the included key was loaded directly into the app. This feature was based on Google’s “Firebase Dynamic Links” service, which will be discontinued at the end of August 2025.
 
The two steps mentioned above are now disconnected from each other. We will adapt the invitation texts in the email and SMS accordingly. In future, all users will receive clear instructions to first download the AX2Go app and subsequently click on the second link to download the key. A new version of the app will be available for iOS and Android at the time of the changeover. You will need this version to complete the changeover process. Existing AX2Go keys are not affected by this change.

Why this change?
Microsoft has discontinued extended support for Windows 10. This means that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or patches for this operating system. This creates potential security risks, which may also affect our software. We can no longer guarantee system security on unpatched Windows 10 systems.
 
What does this mean for you?
 
If you have not already done so, we strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 to ensure the security and maintenance of our systems. All current SimonsVoss software versions are already approved for use on Windows 11. Further information on approved versions and system requirements is available on our Website.

Launched in 2012, the SmartHandle 3062 was the first mechatronic door fitting from SimonsVoss. Our SmartHandle AX Advanced has been launched in 2025, replacing the previous version. This new handle, with its new technology, makes the handle suitable for a wider range of applications.
 
SmartHandle 3062 will be available until October 2025, or as long as stocks last. Please note that due to the discontinuation of some versions, product availability may end sooner. Please contact your sales representative or our internal sales department before ordering a specific variant. We recommend that you offer your customers our new SmartHandle AX Advanced fitting with immediate effect.
 
Please also note that with the discontinuation of SmartHandle 3062, some functions will no longer be supported. The snap-in function will not be directly replaced, and integrated door monitoring will not be supported by the new fitting for the time being.
